Walter "Bo" Barksdale, Jr.

Mr. Walter “Bo” Barksdale, Jr., 67, of 9795 Halifax Rd. Java, Virginia departed this earthly life Thursday, March 27, 2025 in Sovah Health Danville.

He was born June 20, 1957 in Trenton, New Jersey.  He is the son of Walter Sr. who survives and the late Shirley Wimbush Barksdale.

He was educated in the New Jersey Public School System. He was employed by Atkinson Trucking Company and Chatham Health and Rehabilitation.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his father, he leaves to cherish his memory two brothers; James Grover (Brenda) of Danville, VA and Vernon Barksdale of Greensboro, NC; four sisters, Shirley “Emily” Calloway (David) of Java, VA, Jane Maria Barksdale of  Danville, VA, Tracie McCummings and Kyra Colston (Gary) both of Trenton, NJ; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with military rites from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Pastor Prenceanna Craft, Eulogist.

Visitation will be Friday, April 4, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.
