Mr. Samuel L. Cook, 81 of 1658 Strawberry Road; departed this life on Tuesday January 19, 2021 at the Chatham Health and Rehab Center.
Mr. Cook was born August 18, 1939 to the late Lewis and Inez Wooding Cook. He was also predeceased in death by one son, Andrew Cook, two sisters: Emma Leegan and Betty Oatman, and two brothers: Thomas and David Cook.
He twice married first to Arlene Thomas Cook, and then later to the late Shirley Cook. He was employed with Dan River Mills for over thirty years.
He leaves to cherish his memories one brother; Donald Cook, his children: Nancy Jones (Bobby), Sammy Cook Jr., Sandra Cook Robinson, Margaret Payne (Christopher), Ricky Cook, and Lisa Carrington (Curtis). Four step-children: Mary Frances Jones, Gloria Callands, Jackie Jones, and Margie McKenzie (Timothy); 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Samuel Cook will be held Saturday January 23, 2021 at 12 noon from the chapel of Howerton Funeral Home by Rev. MacArthur Myers. Burial will follow in Macedonia Church Cemetery, Chatham.
A viewing will be Friday January 22, 2021 from Howerton Funeral Home from 4-7pm.
