Olivia Townes

Mrs. Olivia Stone Townes, 89, of 1200 Hickory Rd. departed this life on July, 19, 2022 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born December 28, 1932 in Pittsylvania County. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Nora Stone.  She was married to Robert Gray Townes, Sr. who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a son, Frank Allen Townes and a daughter, Sandra Vaden.

She was the last of her generation.

She was a member of Wilson Memorial Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Deaconess, Trustee, a member of the Missionary Society, Culinary and Senior Choir.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons; Robert Townes (Connie) of Stamford, CT, Danny Townes (Murdis) of Danville, VA and Steven Townes (Jacqueline) of Raleigh, N.C.; one other daughter-in-law, Gazetta Townes, of Richmond, VA; two sister-in-law; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be Monday, July 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel Howerton Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony McClary, Eulogist. Viewing will be Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. from Howerton Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, Va.

Masks are required for all services.
