Mollie Stone

Mrs. Mollie Jones Stone, 98, of 2917 Hickory Rd, Chatham, VA departed this life Sunday, February, 9, 2025 in Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center, Chatham, Virginia with her family by her side.

She was born June 26, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.  She was the daughter of the late Doctor and Luellen Jones. She was married to James Preston Stone, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Frank, Robert (R.L.), Curtis, Bobby, Randolph, Willie (Blow), Henry and Lloyd Jones; three sisters, Vernice Guy, Lillie Womack and Lucy Neal Stone, one grandchild, Christopher Carter and one great-grandchild, Abria Stone.

She was educated in the Pittsylvania County School System.

She was a member of Rosebud Baptist Church, Chatham, Virginia, and was a faithful member of the Usher Board.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two sons, Carl Stone(Catherine) and Irvin Stone(Diane) both of Chatham, Virginia; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Carl and Catherine Stone, 2917 Hickory Road, Chatham, Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. from Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Antonel Myler, Sr., Eulogist. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Burial Park, Chatham, Virginia. 

Viewing will be Friday, February 14, 2025, from 4-6pm from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5-6pm.
