Maurice "Muncie" Witcher, Sr.

Mr. Maurice (Muncie) Witcher, Sr., 91, of 1228 Hickory Road, Chatham, Virginia entered into eternal rest June 19, 2024 at his residence.

He was born August 20, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Floyd and Annie Witcher. He was married to Mary Ann Witcher, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his siblings.

He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He was employed by Haymes Brothers Construction Company.

He is survived by four sons, Maurice Witcher, Jr. (Rose), Shawn Witcher (Annette), both of Chatham, VA; James Witcher (Carolyn), of Mississippi and Travis Witcher of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Joyce W. Chattin, of Danville, VA and Rebecca Mitchell (Joaquin) of VA Beach; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday June 29, 2024 at 12:00 noon from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony McClary, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Burial Park with Military rites. Viewing will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 4-6 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.
