Mattie Virginia Henry Ferrell

Mrs. Mattie Virginia Henry Ferrell, 96, of 1028 Union Church Road, Halifax, Virginia, entered into a peaceful rest, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at her residence.
She was born February 22, 1921 in Halifax County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Archie M. and Emma Williams Henry. She was married to Roger Ferrell, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she a mother of the Church, a member of the Usher Ministers, Missionary Ministers and Kitchen Committee. She was employed as a dietary supervisor for South Boston Hospital.
Mrs. Ferrell was predeceased by two sons, Edward and Earl Ferrell, two sisters, Dorothy Hubbard and Mary Kay.
Survivors include two son, Roger Ferrell (Doris), and Sherman Ferrell (Mary Ann), all od Halifax, VA; five daughters, Marie Garner, South Boston, VA, Nannie Childress, Englewood, NJ, Virginia Mann (Robert), Mt. Vernon, NY, Linda Simon (Kirkland), Clover, VA, and Mary Lovelace (Howard), Manalapan, NJ; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Thomas L. Divens. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
