Mrs. Margaret Lee Crews Cobbs, 93, of 178 Northwest Blvd., Danville, Virginia passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at her residence.
She was born September 2, 1929 in Halifax County, Virginia to the late Johnnie E. and Lillian Marable Crews. She was married to Andrew Cobbs, who predeceased her. She is also predeceased by a son, Stanley Thomas, two daughters, Betty Jean Cobbs Thomas and Cornelia Diane Cobbs, four brothers, Willie E., Johnnie C., Frissell, and Gussie L., three sisters, Mary B. Edmunds, Rosa C. Jennings and Nannie F. Crews.
She was a member of New Arbor Baptist Church, South Boston, VA. She was employed by Eastern Medical Group in New York.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Donald Crews (Deloris) and Rickey Cobbs (Teresa) of Danville, VA; one sister, Lillian J. Strange of Danville, VA; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home, and other times the family will receive friends at the residence of her granddaughter, 1540 Olde Hunting Trail, Danville, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January, 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from New Arbor Baptist Church with Rev. Nelson Stamps, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Masks are required for all services.
