Lover Kate Guy

Mrs. Lover Kate Jones Guy, 102, of 533 Cox’s Store Road, Chatham, Virginia entered into a peaceful rest Sunday, November 24, 2024 in Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born July 22, 1922 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Willis and Melinda Womack Jones. She was married to James Guy, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by four children, Sylvester, Morris, John Willis Guy and Peggy Terry; three sons-in-law, Rev. London Walker, Kinley R. Terry and Silas Calloway Jr. She was the last survivor of her immediate generation.

Mrs. Guy was a member Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church and served as a member of the Mothers Board. She was retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company.

Survivors include three daughters; Rev. Sylvia Walker, Terresia Calloway and Ramonia Robertson (Frank); four sons; Archie Guy (Betty), Clarence Guy (Deloris), Sterling Guy (Phyllis), McDaniel Guy, all of all Pittsylvania County, Virginia; 32 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 25 great- great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Guy will be Friday November 29, 2024 at 12 noon, at Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Antonio Logan, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be Thursday, November 28, 2024 from 4-6 pm from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.
