Jr. Clarence Townes

Clarence Townes, Jr., 78, of 406 North Main Street, Chatham, Virginia, departed this life Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Lynchburg General Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1940 in Lynchburg, Virginia, the son of the late Clarence Sr. and Cassie Payne Townes.
He was married to Corrine Turner Townes, who predeceased him.
He was of the Baptist faith, and was employed by the Town of Gretna as a truck driver.
Survivors include his children Michael (LaShawn) Townes, Renee Moore, Richard (Darla) Townes of Ohio; Timothy Townes and Steven Townes of Seattle Washington, and Jessie of Gretna, VA; three brothers, Ronnie Townes, of Philadelphia, PA; William Townes, of Summerville, SC, and Christopher (Nancy) Townes of Hurt, VA; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Townes will be conducted Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home by Rev. Floyd O. Jones.
Viewing will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
