John P Fontaine

Mr. John P. Fontaine, 90, of 4060 Banister Rd., Chatham, VA departed this life Friday, October 24, 2025 at Martinsville Health and Rehab.

He was born May 22, 1935 in Ridgeway, Virginia. He was the son of the late Jerry S. and Lilly Watkins-Fontaine. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel Fontaine. He was also preceded in death by his son, Louis Staple and brothers, Jessie and Leon Fontaine.

He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Sergeant.

He was a member of New Design Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons; Jerry Fontaine, III of New York and Donnie Fontaine (Wileen) of Georgia; three sisters, Cecil Ward (Lewis), Mary Estes both of New York State and Maude (Jackie) Hudson of Virginia; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Dillard, Eulogist from Danville Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m. from Howerton Funeral Home Chapel.
