Obituary
Mr. Jerry L. Owen, 72, Sr., of 1123 Birch Elmo Rd., South Boston, VA, departed this life Friday, September 16, 2022 at his residence.
He was born May 29, 1950 in Halifax County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Jefferson and Beverly Vernell Owen.
He was a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Jerry L. Owen, Jr., a brother, Carroll Owen and a great nephew Ontario Owen.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, one daughter Vonda O. Britton of South Boston, VA, one son Derek Howerton of South Boston, VA, four grandchildren, JerrikQua Owen, Vontasia, Staneja, and Jerron Britton, one great-grandchild, Tamia Daye, one sister, Charlotte Eldridge (William L.) of Sutherlin, VA, one brother, Ronnie Owen, of Harrisonburg, VA, one daughter-in-law, Tamela Owen, one sister-in-law, Beverly Owen, one uncle Roy Ferrell and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church, South Boston, VA with Elder William Howerton, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Mountain Grove Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence.
Masks are required for all services.
