Jerry Dixon Sr.

Mr. Jerry Dixon Sr., 91, passed Wednesday January 13, 2021 in Roman Eagle Memorial Home, Danville, VA.

He was born January 13, 1930. He was the son of the late William Henry and Flossie Stephens Dixon. He was married to Ruth M. Barksdale Dixon, and later to Katie Royal Dixon, both predeceased him.

He was a member of Shockoe Baptist Church. He was a United State Army Veteran, and was employed by Dan River Mills.

Mr. Dixon was predeceased by four children, Alexander, Walter, Larry, and Cora Johnson; five brothers, John, Robert, Jarious, Curtis, and William Dixon; three sisters, Catherine, Maedella, and Jeanette.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry Dixon Jr., Carl Dixon, of Danville, VA., Eddie Dixon of Chatham, VA., Richard Johnson of San Antonio, TX.; five daughters Gwendolyn Dixon, Wanda Dixon, Janice Dixon, Patricia Johnson all of Danville, VA., and Dr. Rena Robinson of Blairs, VA.; two sisters, Dorothy Alston, Chester PA, and Clara Crawford, of Claymont, DE.; four sisters-in-law, Lillian and Clara Dixon, Angienett Dixon and Janice Johnson; one brother-in-law, Mason Austin; twenty five grandchildren and a host of great- grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and other relatives.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday January 19, 2021 at 1pm from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home by Rev. Antonel Myler. Interment will follow at the Shockoe Baptist Church Cemetery.

Viewing will be Monday from 4-7 pm at the Chapel.
