James Younger

Mr. James Younger, 89, of 280 Rosebud Ct, Chatham, Virginia departed this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Roanoke, Virginia at the residence of his son.

He was born October 8, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Martin and Minnie Irby Younger. He was married to Mary Johnson Younger, who predeceased him.

He was a member of Rosebud Baptist Church, Chairman of the Deacon Board, and was a member of the Senior Choir.

He was the last survivor of his immediate generation.

He is survived by two children Carolyn Younger Saunders (James), of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Thornton Younger (Linda), of Roanoke, VA.; four grandchildren, Antoinette Childress, Christopher Childress, Whitney Noell, and James Saunders; one great grandchild, Mia Noell; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 1 p.m. from Rosebud Baptist Church by Rev. Alfred Younger. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park in Chatham, VA.

Viewing will be Friday, November 1, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
