James Wimbish Obituary

Rev., Dr. James Edward Wimbish, 81, of 4385 Markham Road. Java Va. Departed this life October 08, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1936 in Pittsylvania County. He was the son of the late Wilburn Wimbish Sr. and the late Sylvia Wimbish Cox. He was married to Hazel McCargo Wimbish, who survives.
He was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church. He was retired from the Babcock & Wilcox Company as a quality control inspector. He also served as Chaplin in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Winfred ‶Doug″ Wimbish, a niece, Josetta Shawl, two nephews, Garfield Fitzgerald, and Brandon Wilson, and one son in law, Stanley Terry.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by one son, James ‶Eddie″ Wimbish (Etta) of Gordonsville, Va., one daughter Debra Jagger of Charlottesville, Va. , three step children Phillip McCargo Sr. (Natalie) Beverfalls, Pa., Cynthia Terry, Scottsburg, Va., Patricia McCargo, Somerset, NJ., four brothers, George Wimbish, Gladys, Va., Elder Wilburn Wimbish Jr. (Barbara), Gretna, VA, Clarence Wimbish (Mary), Atlantic City, NJ and Earl Wimbish (Jane), Hatsboro, PA; three sisters, Juanita Davis, Falson PA, Ruth Spellman (Dr. Robert), Scotch Plains, NJ, and Sally Wilson, Lynchburg, VA; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday Oct. 14, 2017 at 2pm from Mt. Airy Baptist Church, by Rev. William Avon Keen. Burial with military rites will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.
Viewing will be Friday, October 13, 2017 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. from the chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence, 4385 Markham Road, Java, VA.
