James Moore, Jr.

Mr. James Moore Jr., 88, of 2005 Hodnett Mill Rd. Chatham, VA departed this life on Monday, April 29, 2024 in Chatham Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born January 20, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was the son of the late James and Ruth Gosney-Moore.

He was a member of Cherrystone Baptist Church and served as Deacon, trustee, and layman.

He attended Pittsylvania County Public and was a graduate of Northside High School class of 1955.He also attended J.C. Smith College. He worked at Dan River Mills for twenty-one years before he retired.

He leaves to cherish his memories a sister, Jennifer Tisdell (Kelvin, Sr.); a nephew, Kelvin Tisdell, Jr. and a niece, Nia Tisdell as well as a host of cousins, friends and his church family.Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from Cherrystone Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Forrest, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
