James "Boo Boo" Howerton

Mr. James U. Howerton (Boo Boo), 65, of Galloway, New Jersey, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 in Danville, Virginia.

He was born August 8, 1959 in Halifax County, Virginia.  He was the son of the late James Howerton and Hazel L. Thompson White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Madison Massenburg and three brothers. He was formally married to Geneva Chatten Howerton.

He was educated in the Halifax Public School System and a member of St. Paul Outreach Center, Chatham, VA.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories two sons, Devin R. Walton (Stacy) of Halifax, VA and James (Rocky) Carson of Atlantic City, NJ; a daughter, Chanel P. Ellis of Biloxi Mississippi; two bonus daughters, Erica Womack (Juan) and Shareen Banks both of Danville, VA; two bonus sons, Bobby Reaves of Reidsville, NC and Deonte Chatten of Danville, VA; four sisters, Jean Beatty of the residence, Charise Lamb and Tammy White both of Atlantic City, NJ and Bertha Kirby (Demontay) of South Boston, VA; three brothers, Robert White, Jr. of Atlantic City, Ricky Howerton (Deborah) of Far Rockaway, NJ and Gary Howerton (Peggy) of Fayettville, NC; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Elder William Howerton, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.

Visitation will be Friday, October 4, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.
