James Fitzgerald

Mr. James Fitzgerald, 85, of 549 Williams Dr. Danville, VA, departed this life March 5, 2022 in SOVAH Health.

He was born April 19, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Hester and Cornelius Fitzgerald. He was married to the late Kathann Jones Fitzgerald.

He was a member of White Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He was educated in the Pittsylvania County School System and employed by Smith & Douglas Fertilizer plant where he worked for many years.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one son Darrell Fitzgerald.

Those left to cherish his memories are two sons; Michael Fitzgerald of Greensboro, N.C. and Marcus Fitzgerald of Woodbridge, VA, two daughters; Sandra Scarlett of Raleigh, N.C. and Benita McLaughlin (Thomas) of Danville, VA, two brothers, Jessie Fitzgerald of Blairs, VA and John Fitzgerald (Lillie Pearl) of Chatham, VA, one sister Beatrice Thomas of Danville, VA, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward L. Pope, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.

Masks are required for all services.
