Mr. James Coles, Sr., 74, of Hampton, Georgia passed away, Wednesday, July 28, 2021at Piedmont Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge, GA.
Born February 14, 1947 in Pittsylvania County, VA. He was the son of the late George E. Coles
and Lucy Marion Keen Coles. He was married to Leora Myers Coles, who survives.
He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Helicopter Maintenance Inspector and retired after twenty three years of service. He also retired from Danville Juvenile Detention Center.
He was predeceased by one sister, Betty C. Titus; three brothers, Clarence, Abraham and George Coles.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include three sons, Roger Turnbow (Michelle), of San Antonia, Texas, James T. Coles Jr. (Kristina) of Atlanta, GA, Joshua Abraham Coles of Hampton, GA, and; four grandchildren, four sisters, Polly C. Dancey of Danville, VA, Ruth C. Brown of Mt. Airy, NC, Frances C. Pinkeney (Alonzo) of Harker Heights, Texas, Brenda C. Anderson (Micheal) of Eden, NC; two brothers, Larry D. Coles of Danville, VA, Carol W. Coles (Wanda) of Cooperas Cove, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 1PM from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with District Elder Frances Pinkney, Eulogist. Burial with Military rites will be in Danville Memorial Gardens, 4849 Riverside Drive West, Danville, VA.
Viewing will be Wednesday, August 4th from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Masks are required for all services.
