James "Mickey" Barksdale

Mr. James “Mickey” Barksdale, 68, of Waldorf, MD departed this life Thursday, November 28, 2024 at his residence.

He was born July 19, 1956 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.  He was the son of the late Nathaniel and Luevinia Irvin Barksdale. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Logan Barksdale, five brothers, Carlton Carter, Nathaniel, Ray, Jack and Curtis Barksdale and three sisters, Glory Charles, Beatrice Kinzer and Edith Barksdale.

He was of the Baptist Faith and was employed as a Landscaper.

He leaves to cherish his memory three children; Daniel Barksdale of Missouri, Kashenia Barksdale of Danville, VA and James Barksdale (Bridgette) of Covington, GA; six grandchildren, Tyrik, Travelle, Tanayha, Nakeyla, James Jr., and Jemaja; three great-grandchildren, Londyn, Landyn and Amiri all of Danville, VA; two sisters, Dale Carter of Danville, VA and Emily Barksdale of Chatham, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony McClary, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Burial Park, Chatham, VA.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
