Howard Petty, Jr.

Mr. Howard Petty Jr., 65, of 1420 Abbott Place, Chatham, Virginia entered into a peaceful rest Saturday, May 3, 2025 in Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC.

He was born May 30, 1959 in Pittsylvania County.  He was the son of the late James H. and Margaret Womack Petty. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Petty.

He was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public Schools.

He leaves to cherish his memories a son, Howard Petty, III of Georgia; a granddaughter, Tiana Petty (TiTi); four brothers, Roy Lee of Chatham, VA, Willie (Janice), Steve J. (Wendy) and Andre Petty all of Danville, VA; two sisters, Cynthia and Louise Petty both of the residence; a uncle, Arthur Lee Petty (Sylvia); seven aunts, Sally B. Lewis, Bessie P. Barley, Emma Simms (George), Florence Davis, Roberta Younger-Carden, Betty Womack and Sarah Womack; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Antonel A. Myler, Sr., Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Christ In You Worship Center Cemetery, Vernon Hill, VA.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.
