Mr. Gerald W. Berger, 78, of 1441 Mill Creek Road, Chatham, Virginia departed this earthy life Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at his residence.
He was born October 11, 1945 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Nannie Fitzgerald Berger. He was married to the late Clara Berger. He was also predeceased by two siblings, Diane Berger Taylor and Robert Burger.
He was educated in Pittsylvania County School System. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran where he served as a Sergeant. He worked in the Construction field until he retired.
Survivors include two daughters, Vongie Jenkins (David) and Veronica Snow (David), four grandchildren, all of Maryland; two brothers, John Berger, of Fiji Islands, James Berger, of Chatham; five sister Sarah Williams, of Ocala, Florida, Sallie Steptoe, of Maryland, Delores Rhyne (Ralph), Brenda Jackson and Mae Hinnant, all of Chatham; nieces, nephews, cousins and a friend, Ruby Mease.
Funeral service for Mr. Berger will be Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Military rites from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Elder Ralph Rhyne, Eulogist.
Viewing will be one hour prior to service.
