Mrs. Gazetta Jones, 91, of 1585 Mill Creek Road, Chatham, Virginia passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at her residence.
She was born November 5, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Emma Fitzgerald Womack. She was married to Harrison Jones, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her son, Michael Jones, two sisters, Elizabeth Marr and Virginia Jones and brother, Willie Giggetts.
She attended the public schools of Pittsylvania County.
She was a member of Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church where served as a member of the Usher Board, Nursing Unit and President of the Kitchen Committee. She was employed by Pittsylvania County School System as a bus driver.
She is survived by two sons, Wendell and Jeffrey (Phyllis) Jones of Georgia; one sister, Bertha Avery of Baltimore, MD; one granddaughter, Wendy Jones, two great grandsons, JaDuan Jones and Kendall Jones-Beneby, five bonus grandchildren; Kyle, Timothy, Cheree & Rhonda; nine bonus great-grandchildren, Corey, Jaden, Londyn, Sylence, Justin, Lakendrick, Kaylah, Kennedy, and Kyah; special cousin, Lizzie Jones, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 5, 2023 3-5 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Pastor Teresa Harris, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Greater Triumph Baptist Church Cemetery.
Masks are required for all services.
