Mrs. Ellawese Tompkins 94, of 220 Hodnetts Mill Rd. Chatham, VA, departed this life on Thursday May 6, 2021, at the Centra Medical Center in Bedford, VA.
She was the daughter of the late John Henry Jones and Gracie Kates Jones. She was married to the late Leroy Tompkins.
She was a member of the Belle Grove Primitive Baptist Church and was employed by Lorillard Tobacco Company.
She leaves to cherish her memories five sons Leroy Tompkins (Bettyie) and Harold Wade Jones (Leadrania) both of Upper Marlboro, MD., Jeffrey Jones (Vivian) of Waldorf, MD., Larry Jones, Waverly Jones (Clara), and Ronnie Jones all of Chatham, VA.; one daughter Joyce Ann Jones Logan of Chatham, VA.; one sister Angeline Witcher of Chatham, VA.; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral service for Mrs. Tompkins will be Friday May 14, 2021 at 1p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home by Elder Austin. Burial will follow in Bell Grove Church Cemetery.
Viewing will be Thursday May 13, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral with only 10 at a time.
