Clifton Dawson

Clifton Dawson, 87, of 200 Riceville Road, Java, Virginia departed this life Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in Chatham Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 6, l930 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, the son of the late Claudie and Ethel Coleman Dawson.
He was married to Clara Logan Dawson, who survives.
He was of the Baptist Faith, a veteran of the United States Army, and was employed by Kennecott Refining Corporation.
In addition to his wife of the residence he is survived by one daughter, Armetta Newman, six grandchildren and four god children, four sisters, Bertha Davis, Cynthia, Yvonne, and Debbie Dawson.
Funeral Service for Mr. Dawson will be conducted Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home by Rev. Melvin Logan. Burial with military rites will in New Jerusalem Church Cemetery, Java, VA.
