Charlie Lanier

Mr. Charlie Lanier, 79, of 9077 Halifax Road, Java, Virginia died Saturday April 29, 2017 at his residence.

He was born February 28, 1938 in Pittsylvania County; he was the son of the late John and Kattie Luck Lanier. Charlie was married to Odella Whitehead Lanier, who survives.

He was member of Shockoe Baptist Church and a member the Deacon Ministry.

In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by a son, Jaris T. Lanier (Judy), of Martinsville, VA; two daughters, Karen L. Jones (Amos), and Jacqueline Lanier-Miller (Chris), all of Java, VA; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; a brother, John C. Lanier, of Gretna, VA; two sisters, Mattie S. Carter, of Blairs, VA, and Minnie A. Lanier, of Ft. Washington, MD; nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Friday, May 5, 2017 at 12:00 noon from Shockoe Baptist Church by Rev. Antonel Myler. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be Thursday at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m.; the family will be present from 6-7p.m.
