Callie Octavia Fitzgerald

Mrs. Callie Octavia Fitzgerald, 89, of 438 Hodnetts Mill Road, Chatham, Virginia, departed this life Saturday, December 28, 2024 in Danville.

She was born July 9, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late John and Hanna Berger Clements. She was the last survivor of her immediate generation.

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served as a mother of the Church, a member of the Senior Choir, Usher Board and Kitchen Committee.

Survivors include two daughters, Amanda G. Barksdale (Wendell), of Danville, VA; and Michelle Fitzgerald-Foster, of Reidsville, NC; and a step-daughter, Betty Fitzgerald, of Hurt, VA; one sister-in-law, Len Clements, of Gretna, VA; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, with Pastor William Tarpley, officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be from 12 noon to the time of service at the church.
