Arlene Cook

Mrs. Arlene Cook, 80, of 528 Belair Road, Gretna, Virginia departed this life Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

She was born September 10, 1943 in Washington, PA.  She was the daughter of the late James and English Royal Thomas. She was also predeceased by a son Andrew Lee Cook, a sister Emma Jean Wooding and a brother John Henry Thomas.  

Survivors include two sons Sammy Junior and Ricky D. Cook, both of the residence; two daughters, Sandra J. Robinson, of Danville, Virginia and Margaret Payne (Christopher), of Roanoke, Virginia; four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Thomas of Callands, VA; six sisters, Janice Coles of Martinsville, VA, Annie Taylor of Gretna, VA, Julia Thomas of Cascade, VA, Brenda Belcher and Fannie Witcher both of Callands, VA and Daisy Thomas; a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from Macedonia Baptist Church by Rev. MacArthur Myers Jr. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.
