Howerton Funeral Home, formerly known as Chatham Funeral Home was established in 1980 by Mr. L.A. Parks of Lynchburg, Virginia. Mrs. Lola Howerton became manager of Chatham Funeral Home in 1980 and later she became part owner of the establishment.

In the mid-eighties Mrs. Howerton was awarded Mortician of the year by the Western-District Morticians Association. After the death of Mr. L.A. Parks, Mrs. Howerton was offered the opportunity to purchase Chatham Funeral Home. She did so in 1996 with the full support of her family.

As time went on Mrs. Howerton revealed her vision of the future Howerton Funeral Home to which better serve those who choose Howerton Funeral Home in their time of need.

In the year 2000 a groundbreaking ceremony took place for an addition and renovation of Howerton Funeral Home. Among the things added were a new office, a larger selection room, a chapel and 2 handicap accessible bathrooms, with front and rear access as well as a newly paved parking lot.

35 years later Mrs. Howerton is still grateful to God, her family and all of the wonderful people who have made it possible for Howerton Funeral Home to be here to serve your needs, in the past, present and the future.
