Wallean Johnson

Mrs. Wallean Jones Johnson, 74, of Chatham, Virginia, departed this life Sunday morning, November 26, 2023 in Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Danville, Virginia.

She was born September 4, 1949 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late George and Frances Richardson Jones. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Harold Venable and a sister, Jeanette Jones-Clark.

She was a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church and served on the nurses aid committee. She attended Pittsylvania County Schools and was employed by Bassett-Walker.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a brother, George Jones (Lorraine) of Chatham, VA; six sisters, Gurdine Bennett of Blairs, VA, Velma Jones and Costella Jones both of Lynchburg, VA, Norma Jean Stephens (Leon) of Chatham, VA, Susie Harris of Baltimore, MD, and Gloria Adams of Danville, VA, a loving aunt, Mrs. Loverkate Guy; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. the family will be present from 5-6 p.m. and at other times at the residence of her sister Jean Stephens.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from Mt. Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Frederick L. Anderson, Eulogist and Pastor Chris Pritchett, Presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
