Nellie Davis

Mrs. Nellie V. Davis, 96, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the residence of her daughter, Ms. Rachel Hunt, 304 Chaney Lane, Gretna, Virginia.

Born September 20, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Irene Minter. She was married to Robert Davis, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by two sons, Timothy and Fred Davis, three daughters, Katherine Ferrell, Gloria Goggins, Sharon Bennett and a sister, Marie Ransome.

She was the last of her generation.

She was a member of Cherrystone Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sons; Robert C. Davis, Jr. (Carrie) of Thornton, Colorado, Donald R. Davis of Gretna, VA and Anthony Davis (Geraldine) of Chatham, VA; five daughters; Irene Patrick of Delaware, Mildred Davis (Howard) of Chatham, VA, Rachel Hunt of Gretna, VA, Linda Miller (Dennis) and Jamie Smith (Jeffrey) of Richmond, VA; a host of grandchildren, a host of great- grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from Cherrystone Baptist Church, Chatham, VA with Rev. Rodney Forrest, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Masks are required for all services.
